The Free AI Stack Behind My SEO Audits

An SEO audit sounds like it needs expensive software. It doesn’t. The tools that matter most are the ones that help you read a page the way a search engine — and a human — actually do. Here’s the free stack I run, in order.

1. Can the page be summarized in one honest sentence?

Open the page and ask: what is this about, and who is it for? If you can’t answer in one sentence, neither can Google. Most “SEO problems” are clarity problems wearing a technical costume.

2. Title and meta description

These decide whether anyone clicks. I draft options with a free meta description generator, then pick the one that matches real search intent. Rewrite, don’t just accept — the tool’s first output is a starting point.

3. Keyword usage — enough, not stuffed

A keyword density checker tells you if you’re under- or over-using your target term. Under-used means the page won’t rank for it; over-used reads like spam. Aim for natural.

4. Readability

A readability score checker flags sentences that are too dense. If your score says “graduate level” for a consumer product page, you’re losing readers — and dwell time matters.

5. Headings and structure

One H1. Logical H2s. No skipped levels. This is free to fix and often the fastest win on an audit.

What I deliberately skip

I don’t chase every metric a paid tool surfaces. Most of it is noise or theater. The five checks above catch the issues that actually move rankings and, more importantly, actually help readers.

Meta description, keyword density, and readability tools are all in the free AI tools set — no signup. Run them in this order on your next audit and see how much of the “foundational” work is genuinely free.
